CWDS Job Seeker Job Aides
 ON-LINE JOB MATCHING SYSTEM

The Pennsylvania CareerLink uses the Commonweath Workforce Development System (CWDS) which allows you to create an on-line resume, search for jobs, and access a variety of employment and training information.

You can use the computers located in our Career Resource Center (CRC), or you can access the CWDS website at www.cwds.state.pa.us from any personal computer connected to the Internet.

If you don't know how to use a computer, you can attend a "how-to" workshop called Basic Computer or Spanish Basic Computer to learn the basic computer skills needed to complete your Job Seeker Enrollment and use the CWDS system.

TIPS FOR USING CWDS ON-LINE

  • Read all instructions at each step.
  • Use the tab key to move to the next information block.
  • The scroll bar, a vertical band with up and down arrows on the right edge of the screen, provides quick movement up and down the screens.
  • Do not use spaces or dashes when entering your social security number.
  • Use a 4-digit year (01/10/2000) for all dates.
  • Remember that the system is very case sensitive; there is a difference between a capital "A" and a lower case "a."
  • You will need to know your Participant ID number; you may call the Help Desk at (610) 437-5627 Ext. 521 during working hours to get your state system-generated number.
  • Follow the directions to create a unique Keystone ID (user name) and password . Write it down exactly as you entered it on the wallet card provided.
  • You must complete all information marked with a red dot.
  • The finished product of the "Job Seeker Enrollment" is a resume and completed responses to Job Preferences. For best results, use upper case (CAPITAL) and lower case (small) letters.
  • Click on Job Preferences; follow the instructions to complete each section as thoroughly as possible to enhance job matching.
  • After the resume is completed, do a Browse for Jobs.  Read and Add jobs to a Job Cart for serious consideration of and application to a job(s).
  • Carefully review the jobs in the cart; read and decide if you want to apply for any of them.
  • Click on Apply to send your resume to the employer.  You need to read each job order carefully in case the employer wants you to do anything else to apply for the job.
  • A running history of jobs you have applied for, jobs you were referred to by a Staff member, or when an employer found YOU, will be listed in the Job Application tab.
  • To access PA CareerLink on future visits, enter your case sensitive Keystone ID and password.
  • Do not change any settings on the computers!
  • Always ask for help when you need it!

To maintain a professional atmosphere, no children will be allowed in the Career Resource Centers. Food and beverages are not permitted at any time.
